The Governor's Office of Energy Management and Conservation (OEMC) and the
Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) have joined
together to promote energy savings opportunities directly to small- and
medium-sized businesses through the State Partners for Energy and the
Environment program.
The OEMC has trained the CDPHE’s permit writers and inspectors to recognize
energy savings and renewable energy opportunities in the facilities they
regulate. In the course of making routine inspections they promote energy
efficiency and encourage facility managers to sign up for a free energy
assessment. The permit writers and inspectors also distribute program
promotional materials, including a postcard for requesting additional technical
assistance. The OEMC will make a site visit to the facilities referred through
the program, to analyze energy usage and make recommendations for improving
energy end use efficiencies. The service includes a follow-up phone call to
assist with the implementation of energy efficiency measures.
The State Partners for Energy and the Environment program is funded through a
grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The program is available to any small-
and medium-sized business, not just those being inspected by the CDPHE.
