Since lighting is typically a large portion of the energy load in most commercial buildings, Longmont Power and Communications, the city of Longmont’s municipal utility, has developed the Commercial Lighting Incentive Program, or CLIP.

CLIP provides a free lighting audit and financial assistance to commercial customers interested in upgrading to energy-efficient lighting. The financial assistance takes two forms: 1) as a 2-year, no-interest loan to help finance a retrofit project, or 2) as a rebate based on the project’s reduction in lighting load, paid at $100/kW of reduction. CLIP is available to all business customers in the C-2 or higher rate class, or those using 50kW of load per month.

Longmont Power and Communications also offers a free energy audit, covering all areas of energy efficiency, to its commercial customers.
