Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), the second-largest utility in Colorado serving more than 550,000 customers, offers its commercial and industrial customers a few programs targeted at increasing the energy efficiency of buildings, systems, and processes:

  • The Business Lighting Rebate Program offers an incentive for CSU commercial and industrial customers to upgrade their facility's lighting. The rebate is offered only for retrofitting T-12 lamps and magnetic ballasts to T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts. The amount is on a per-fixture basis, and varies by the number of lamps in each fixture. An Excel-based lighting audit form is posted on the website to help you determine if lighting retrofits make economic sense.

  • The Kilowatcher Rate Option allows customers with a yearly electrical demand greater than 500 kW to purchase electricity at a lower rate year-round, in exchange for curtailing load during up to 100 hours of super peak times (when the rate is substantially higher).

  • With CSU's Energy Information Services you can investigate your facility's electric and gas use over the Internet, and spot energy use trends that could be adjusted or find pieces of machinery that could be operated more efficiently, saving money for your company.
