Energy Efficiency Guide for Colorado Businesses

Introduction

Almost all commercial buildings and industrial and agricultural operations in Colorado have areas of energy waste that can be greatly reduced by practical energy-efficiency retrofits. In a number of cases, enhancements to energy systems can improve comfort and productivity, as well as save energy and money. The aim of the Energy Efficiency Guide for Colorado Businesses is to point out opportunities for Colorado businesses to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings and operations, and help Colorado businesses obtain assistance in identifying and implementing energy efficiency projects.

The trick is to match appropriate retrofit measures to specific needs so that energy is conserved cost-effectively. This guide was designed to equip businesses with resources to make this process as simple as possible. The Guide was prepared by the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), a public-interest organization with no ties with vendors of energy-efficient goods or services. Our aim is to support practical policies and activities that result in a more energy-efficient Colorado.

The Guide has five main sections:

  1. Recommendations by Sector for 13 important commercial and industrial sectors in the state;
  2. Overviews of the key Energy Efficiency Measures;
  3. Profiles of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) operating in Colorado;
  4. Descriptions of the Financial and Technical Resources available to Colorado businesses; and
  5. Project Case Studies.

Why should businesses in Colorado care about energy efficiency?
