In May 2003 Trane was recognized by the Office of the President of the United States with the “Commander in Chief’s Special Recognition for Installation Excellence” award, presented by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Recent projects:

Recent Colorado projects of note include a new chilled water plant, pipe loop extension, and digital device controls for Denver University’s central cooling system; a new chiller and boiler plant, lighting upgrades, building envelope upgrades, and digital device controls for the Little Sisters of the Poor’s Denver assisted living facility; and, through a guaranteed energy savings performance contract, a new chilled water plant, lighting upgrades, and HVAC heat recovery unit for Mercy Medical Center in Durango.

Use of savings guarantees:

Trane provides savings and/or performance guarantees when desired by customers, though most of Trane’s retrofit projects do not include savings guarantees. Trane conducts energy savings measurement through various means, including electronic monitoring of control systems and/or utility bill analysis. Trane also offers preventive repair and maintenance services. In each case, the goal is to ensure that systems and equipment are operating in the most efficient manner possible and, if not, take corrective action as needed.

Trane offers two methods of verifying projected energy savings. Its Point Source Guarantee measures energy usage at the point, directly where it is consumed, and its Continuous Metering Guarantee validates post-retrofit energy savings on a monthly basis by comparing current utility consumption to the base, pre-retrofit consumption.

Financing options:

Leasing services are available to Trane commercial customers. Trane also makes available municipal leases to clients who qualify, and provides a list of commercial leasing and lending partners with whom clients may work directly.

While not directly involved in project financing, Trane has worked with the various financing methods and sources available to municipal government customers, commercial customers, and not-for-profit corporations. Trane works with a large selection of third party lenders, aiming to provide as much transparency as possible to the financing process while ensuring that the cost of an energy conservation project aligns with its economic benefits. Trane’s experience with financing methods include commercial leases, municipal leases for qualifying customers, and conduit leasing for qualifying not-for-profit customers.
