Recent projects:
Recent Colorado projects of note include the Embassy House, Lido,
and LaFontana condominium complexes located in Denver. These high-rise
buildings, with 90 to 100 units each, were retrofitted with energy-efficient
HVAC controls and lighting fixtures. Boiler efficiency was increased,
carbon monoxide controls were added for parking garage ventilation,
and variable frequency drives were added to pumps and fans to control
speeds and reduce energy demand.
Use of savings guarantees:
Clients enter into a performance contract agreement with Mason
Engineering to design, install, monitor, and maintain building energy
efficiency upgrades. Mason Engineering takes on all risk associated
with the performance of the energy efficiency measures. Upgrades
are financed, with no up-front cost to the customer, through system
energy savings, with a percentage going to pay for the improvements
and the customer receiving the balance. Contract lengths are variable.
Financing options:
Mason Engineering offers clients a shared savings program with
variable terms available for repayment. No up-front costs are required
of clients, and customers also have the right to early-purchase
system upgrades. Contracts may be extended beyond the original agreement
if the customer chooses. This assures that equipment and savings
are maintained, and gives the customer the added advantage of access
to a professional engineer to advise them on HVAC concerns and to
train new staff on their own equipment.
