Awards:
EMC was recognized in June 2005 as a Premier Allied Partner of
Rebuild America (DOE), for excellence in promoting energy-efficiency
and renewable-energy technologies and practices. At the 2000 American
Council of Engineering Companies Engineers Excellence Awards, EMC
received a Merit Award for its work on an HVAC upgrade project for
the Olympic Training Center's aquatics facility, in Colorado Springs.
In 2002 EMC was a co-sponsor of the University of Colorado's Solar
Decathlon team, which took first place in the 2002 National Intercollegiate
Solar Decathlon competition. A recent Poudre School District commissioning
project earned an ENERGY STAR® certification with a score of 97.
Recent projects:
Recent Colorado performance contract projects of note include
lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades, evaporative cooling, and commissioning
for various schools in the Limon School District; lighting retrofits,
boiler upgrades, window replacement, and energy management control
system for facilities in the East Yuma County School District; HVAC
upgrades for the Cheyenne County School District High School and
Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital; and HVAC upgrades, lighting
retrofit and controls, and ventilation improvements for elementary
through high school facilities in the following school districts:
West Grand, Monte Vista, Yuma, Cheraw, and Crowley, and for Franklin
Park Residential Tower.
Use of savings guarantees:
EMC requires that monitoring, verification, service, and maintenance
agreements be incorporated into any performance contract that includes
savings guarantees. Savings guarantees are based on 90% of projected
savings, with the guarantee acting as insurance to cover the amount
of savings not met, should there be any. Savings above the guarantee
can be applied to the following year's savings or renegotiated.
Financing options:
EMC offers a broad range of financing options to clients, including
but not limited to tax-free municipal lease-purchase agreements,
grants from national and state governments, utility rebate programs,
certificates of participation, revenue bonds, and conventional lending
options. EMC excels in combining various funding sources in order
to buy down the cost of the project to the customer. Examples include
utility rebates and lease purchase agreements or lottery monies
and grants.
